Cellulite

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a pain in the butt, no question about it. Whether you are young or old, slim or full figured, athletic or sedentary, you can find yourself with stubborn uneven dimpling and denting of the buttocks as well as the thighs. Up to 90% of women have some form of cellulite.

Many treatments and devices have been developed to treat cellulite with hefty price tags, but with limited success. Part of the reason for this is that until recently, the causes for cellulite dimpling were poorly understood. While diet and exercise can help tremendously in reducing the appearance of cellulite, it can still affect even the slimmest among us.

Many patients look at cellulite in the mirror and think of it as fat that could be removed with liposuction.  Cellulite is not fat, and since liposuction devolumizes the skin, it can actually make cellulite appear much worse.

Recently, studies have shown that cellulite is the result of fibrous bands that run perpendicular to the surface of the skin. These fibrous bands attach to the area of the dimple or crater and attach to deeper structures in the skin. Treatment directed at reducing the action of these fibrosis bands is now the most promising therapeutic option.

QWO Injectable Cellulite Treatment

QWO is a prescription  injectable that was recently approved by the FDA to treat banana rolls and cellulite in the buttocks. QWO is a type of enzyme referred to as a collagenase that is injected directly into the dimple or crater to chemically “melt” the fibrous bands causing the dimple. Treatment of cellulite in the thighs is considered “off-label” and is performed at patient and doctor discretion.

Since QWO breaks up collagen, it also breaks up the collagen holding together small blood vessels in the skin. The result is there can be a significant amount of bruising with each treatment. Three rounds of treatment are required three to six weeks apart, so the bruising may be present for several months. On the bright side, the cellulite dimples will be gone forever.

Treatment usually takes just 10 minutes and results are assessed 28 days after the third treatment.

Cellutone – Cellulite Reduction

Cellutone is a non-invasive treatment for cellulite reduction which also improves skin texture. Say goodbye to your cellulite!

Cellutone can be used as a stand alone treatment for cellulite or to complement a body contouring procedure like Vanquish ME or Cool Sculpting.

Cellutone employs targeted vibrations to enhance microcirculation and oxygen supply resulting in increased blood supply and removal of excess interstitial fluid.

Patients of all ages and skin types are candidates for Cellutone. A series of 4 to 6 sessions over the course of several weeks is usually required for the best results.
